Magen David Academy is the only Orthodox Jewish International School in Latin America. Our unique program combines the rigorous requirements from our US accreditation agency (AdvancEd SACS) with Panamanian graduation requirements and comprehensive Judaic programming.
Magen David Academy encourages lifelong learning in a safe, respectful environment that meets the individual needs of each of our students. We are dedicated to creating a learning experience that combines the unique elements of our students’ Jewish values with critical thinking skills and cutting edge technology. Our goal is to develop our students into global leaders prepared to contribute to the social, cultural, and professional challenges of the 21st century.
Magen David Academy strives to provide our students with a challenging and inspiring education that integrates both high quality Jewish and secular education to achieve academic excellence.
As a Magen David Academy Student, I am responsible. I will respect myself, others, the Judaic philosophy of my school, the environment and school property.
Magen David Academy was founded in 2008 by a group of parents who did not want to choose between international and Jewish education. Out of their passion for excellent educational options, MDA was born. While it started as a K-5 school, MDA has expanded and grown over the years. We have grown into a middle school, a high school, and even graduated two classes of seniors! Our school community includes Panamanian families who are looking for international education for their children, as well as international families who have found their home in Panama and at MDA. We have grown and developed over the past few years and conquered many obstacles, but we are not done growing yet!
We look forward to planning many possibilities in the next few years:
extended electives classes
Expanding our STEAM program
Learning at Magen David Academy is an explorative and creative process in which students communicate, connect, and interact with their surroundings in a fun, engaging manner in order to develop skills, values, and identity to face the challenges of their world and become responsible citizens of their community.
Our curriculum is carefully designed to align learning experiences to our mission, in order to provide our students not only for academic success, but success in work and home life. Our rich Judaic and international programming focuses on 21st Century Skills: Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking and Citizenship.
High academic standards are achieved through the implementation of units of work collaboratively created by our teacher teams based on international benchmarks. Student progress is monitored and documented in order to inform decision-making and accommodate instruction to students’ learning and emotional needs.
Instruction and classroom management is based on the concepts of Responsive Classroom and Restorative practices. Through engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness teachers work to ensure that all students develop strong academic and social skills.
Our international curriculum includes Literacy, Religious Studies, Math, Science, Social Studies, Music, Art, PE, Hebrew, and Spanish. The values of Judaism are woven through all our school subjects. MDA is a Zionist school and works to ensure that students have a strong Jewish identity and a love for the State of Israel.
Create life-long learners by nurturing a strong sense of curiosity combined with the ability to analyze and think independently.
Achieve academic excellence in a challenging, yet flexible learning environment in order to prepare students for higher education at universities of their choice as well as the international job market.
Establish a strong foundation of Judaic values and traditions so students can become successful members of the local and global Jewish community.
